AHRMA Moto-Fest in the Heartland recap.

I read about the event on Instagram. I had never attended an AHRMA event before. Not as a spectator, racer, or vendor. I spoke to my friend Robert and asked him if he wanted to go. He was down to clown so I contacted Maurice at Laroque Motorsports and got a spot. It was a long haul from Jacksonville Fl to Topeka Kansas. We arrived Thursday morning and the weather was cold and rainy. We got set up and ran into town so Robert could buy some warm clothes. He only brought shorts, t shirts, and some converse all starts.

Friday morning we were set up early and while the weather had probably kept some people away there is as quite a turn out. I got to meet quite a few people from Facebook husqvarna groups, and customers who had ordered parts. Lots of cool bikes running around.

Saturday was a nicer day as far as the weather goes. The sun came out and the temp went up making for a very nice day. I had a couple surprise guests stop by the tent. First was 4 time National Enduro Champ Terry Cunningham and his wife. Genuine nice and friendly people. He was asking some info about the Elba LED kit as they were going to run them in the 24 hour race at Perry Mountain. Shortly after the Cunningham’s left I had someone walk up and look at the prototype clutch cover and make some very nice comments. After speaking for quite a while he introduced himself as Fred Hoess. Fred has competed in the ISDE 6 Days event 27 times and has won more gold medals than any other American. He knows his Husqvarnas.

Also, on Saturday was a bike show. I had just finished building my 1987 430 CR so I entered it. It won 3rd place. Not bad for a bike that I bought for $500 10 months earlier.

It was an honor to meet Terry and Fred. Also, everyone else who has a passion for dirtbikes. We made alot of new friends, met some people for the first time face to face, and had a ton of fun.
